Yes We Can! Long Island 2012Long Island’s bigot-in-chief, Rep. Peter King, R-Seaford, once again stuck his foot in his mouth by saying that by supporting the Cordoba Center, a Muslim cultural center and mosque two blocks from Ground Zero President Obama “caved into political correctness.”
“It is insensitive and uncaring for the Muslim community to build a mosque in the shadow of ground zero,” King said in a statement. “While the Muslim community has the right to build the mosque, they are abusing that right by needlessly offending so many people who have suffered so much.…Unfortunately the president caved into political correctness.”
President Obama is merely upholding the oath he took to “preserve, protect and defend” the constitution, which includes freedom of religion. In other words, he is merely doing his job. That much was acknowledged this morning on “Fox & Friends.” His action isn’t going to help him politically, given that surveys show as many as 68 percent of Americans oppose the mosque.
Mr. King took a similar oath, yet instead of leadership, he resorts to demogoguery, being the “go-to guy” for media types looking for a politician to disagree with the President. Disappointing, but expected.
There is no question that many people who lost loved ones in the destruction of the World Trade Center on 9/11 are upset that there are plans for a Muslim center so close to Ground Zero. Those feelings should be acknowledge, but it would be a far greater travesty to defile the Constitution in their name.
Nothing that the president has said or done while in office demonstrates that he hates the US. Thoroughly loyal Americans have different opinions on what is best for the US, On this subject good people can disagree. I accept that both Ellis and Marco are good Americans and they disagree, and I disagree with both of them. The president's position is quite reasonable, but so is the congressman's, and not even the most extreme left wing ideologue can legitimately claim that Peter King is anything but a loyal American. Mr. King has repeatedly demonstrated that he is an independent thinker not bound by what would appear to be his party's position. He has a right to his opinion and it is only right that he display it to his constituents.
Obama has ignored the constitution and the oath he has taken. The seperation of church and state is only used when he feels like it. It is about time he comes out of the closet and admits he is a Muslim and he hates this country. This IMAM should not be going anywhere on our tax dollar and the only thing he wants to build is a TROPHY at GROUND ZERO. They need to be stopped!!!!!!
