Please watch Betsy McCaughey, one of the most prominent spokespeople for the anti-health care reform agenda, a former lieutenant governor from New York during the Pataki years, struggle to make a coherent and factual argument on The Daily Show. Jon Stewart doesn’t let her get away with anything.
Tim Foley, a health care advocate, analyzes her appearance on his blog at heatlhcare.change.org.

Yes We Can! Long Island 2012

Betsy McCaughey clearly does not want a real dialogue about health care reform. If left unchecked it is estimated by most experts that health care costs will rise from current 17% of GDP up to 25% of GDP by 2020. When will Ms. McCaughey and the party of “no” start worrying about these uncontrolled costs, when they reach 50% of GDP?
Instead Ms. McCaughey took language from one or two pages of a comprehensive health care bill, which referred to living wills and other life sustaining directives, and tried to turn that into death squads. It was a perfect venue for her, a comedy show but she was the real joke.
